Detailed Manuscript Evaluation
Please Note: This service is for clean books only (nothing beyond kissing). No horror, occult, or gory murder stories will be accepted. Cozy mysteries are fine.
Is your book ready for publication? Get a professional opinion. Your evaluation will include detailed feedback on the following vital elements of good fiction:
-
Strength of story. Some stories start out great but fizzle. I’ll check for a strong hook, story problem, theme, distinct characterization, and that each segment (beginning, middle, and end) are compelling. Whether fiction or non-fiction, these elements are vital to a good book.
-
Transitions. Not all writers can smoothly transition from scene to scene, or even place to place within a scene. This leaves the reader puzzled or annoyed.
-
Grammar. Goes without saying that good fiction must have good grammar. (Dialogue can be an exception.)
-
Style. Excessive wordiness, repetitiveness, vagueness, lack of detail (or too much), weasel words, etc., can all mar the reading experience and weaken a book.
-
Genre. Authors sometimes (unknowingly) fail to meet genre expectations. If your book is a romance, certain elements must be included—and some things should not. Same for any other genre. Your manuscript will be checked for story cohesiveness and strength in light of its genre.
